Terminal and Genexy Shell
The Terminal panel holds several sessions as named tabs. Sessions can be restored when the panel reopens, and a terminal that an AI agent started can be revealed here so you can see exactly what it ran.
Which terminals you get
| Platform | Available terminals |
|---|---|
| Windows | PowerShell, pwsh, CMD, Bash when available, Genexy Shell |
| macOS | zsh, bash, fish, sh, Genexy Shell |
| Linux | bash, zsh, fish, sh, Genexy Shell |
| Android | Genexy Shell |
| iOS / iPadOS | Genexy Shell |
On Windows, Bash appears only when bash.exe exists, usually through WSL or Git for Windows. On macOS and Linux,
Genexy lists the shells actually installed rather than assuming a fixed set.
Genexy Shell
Genexy Shell is a Bash-compatible terminal implemented inside Genexy. It is available on every platform and is the only terminal on Android and iOS, where the operating-system sandbox prevents spawning arbitrary native processes.
It supports:
- Bash-style scripts, variables and control flow;
- pipelines, such as
find . -name "*.java" | grep config; - input and output redirection;
- working-directory and filesystem commands;
- common Linux-style core utilities;
- Git, on desktop, mobile and tablet;
gnx, the code generator commands.
# Typical session
git status --short
find . -name "*.java" | grep config
git log --oneline -5Type help to list the commands included in your build.
Genexy Shell is not a Linux userspace and cannot execute arbitrary system binaries; it implements its own command set. When a tool has to run as a real operating-system process, use a native desktop terminal.
Managing tabs
Use the + menu to pick which shell to start. Tabs can be renamed, dragged into a different order and closed
independently. Closing a terminal ends its session, except for a revealed AI-owned terminal, which stays attached to the
chat that created it. A run configuration opens its own tab named after it, and
closing that tab stops the run.
